Om te Skryf
Project in progress. Creative Spark has been commissioned by Naspers to design and develop an HTML5 tablet webapp and website version of Om te Skryf, a new Afrikaans book (to be released in November 2012) featuring excerpts, lessons and exercises that teach the reader how to write good Afrikaans prose. The webapp and website will be published entirely in Afrikaans, and built on an enterprise-level WordPress installation for content management.
Three Cities Group
Project in progress. Creative Spark was commissioned by the Three Cities Group to restructure, design and develop their new website, featuring their hotel properties and facilities, as well as a hotel booking engine and rewards programme. The new website is currently under development, and will run on an enterprise-level WordPress CMS installation.
Tanqueray South Africa
Creative Spark developed a Facebook competition app for Tanqueray Gin, in partnership with Owen Kessel. The app allowed Facebook users to invite a friend living abroad back to South Africa for a Tanqueray Reunion party, with 10 other local friends. The app was used to launch and publicise Tanqueray SA's brand new Facebook page.
BlackBerry South Africa
Creative Spark developed a Facebook competition app for RIM's BlackBerry brand, in partnership with Idea Engineers, for the Comics Choice Awards sponsored by BlackBerry. Competition entrants needed to submit a comedic video via YouTube, and the best submissions were posted to the app for votes and sharing.
Ogilvy Graduate Programme
Creative Spark was commissioned to build the Ogilvy South Africa Graduate Programme microsite. The website is built on the WordPress CMS, with a custom designed theme, and is a showcase for the agency's graduate recruitment programme.
Creative Spark was commissioned to create a public facing website, to showcase a selection of digitised archive material belonging to the African National Congress (ANC), including images, video, audio and text content. The ANC Archives website - www.ancarchives.org.za - was built using a responsive theme that adapts to different browsers and mobile devices, on an enterprise level WordPress CMS installation.
Mail & Guardian
Creative Spark worked with the Mail & Guardian to produce an iPhone app to compliment the publisher's website, and provide a slick, native experience for their users with iPhones. The app publishes feeds of daily local and international news and feature content from the Mail & Guardian website.
Live Magazine is a multi-platform youth content channel that is entirely produced by young people under professional mentorship. Live Magazine launched its South African edition in November 2011, and Creative Spark worked with Live to produce a mobile website - www.livemag.co.za - to publish magazine content online and promote the Live SA brand. The mobi site is optimised for both smartphones and feature phones, and caters for the magazine's youth audience, which has high mobile but low desktop internet penetration.
Creative Spark was commissioned in 2011 to design and build a new corporate website for Idea Engineers, a Johannesburg-based PR and advertising agency - www.ideaengineers.co.za. The website is built on a WordPress CMS, which allows the agency to manage website and portfolio updates themselves. Creative Spark also collaborates with Idea Engineers on the design and development of social media and other digital campaigns for some of the agency's brands, including BlackBerry South Africa.
PSG Asset Management
Creative Spark was commissioned in 2011 to design and build a new corporate website for PSG Asset Management, one of South Africa's largest investment management companies - www.psgam.co.za. The website is built on a WordPress CMS, which allows the company to manage website and product portfolio updates themselves. The site also features an secure limited access area, where clients can manage their account with PSG.
Iconic Abu Dhabi (Turner Communications)
The Iconic Abu Dhabi website was an image-driven showcase of tourist attractions in Abu Dhabi. jQuery was used exclusively to handle all interactivity and animation on the site. It included integration with Facebook, Twitter, Gmail and Yahoo! Mail to drive the voting and viral aspects of the campaign. There was also a custom-built CMS to manage imagery, content and user profiles.
Rhodes University Business School
Creative Spark is responsible for the design and development of the soon to be launched new Rhodes Business School website, as well as the live companion Thought Leader blog Critical Thought. Modelled after the Harvard Business Review, is an online platform where CEOs, business commentators, personalities and leading lights in society, business and academia contribute their thoughts on business practice and philosophy on the continent. Creative Spark also consults on marketing and digital strategy for this project.
The Home Channel (BDFM/Avusa)
The Home Channel delivers decor, design, home improvement and property television programmes to a Southern African audience. Creative Spark was responsible for the design and development of the Home Channel website, built on the WordPress platform.
Smirnoff South Africa
Creative Spark is fully NEO accredited for development on Diageo brands. We managed the Smirnoff South Africa Facebook Page, and were responsible for the development of several custom Facebook apps for the brand, including a New Year’s Eve party giveaway and Smirnoff Ice Campus Invasion campaign. We also consulted on general digital and ORM strategy for the brand.
J&B South Africa
Creative Spark is fully NEO accredited for development on Diageo brands. We managed the J&B South Africa Facebook Page, and were responsible for the development of several custom Facebook apps for the brand, including a J&B Met 2012 competition and R1 million bottle giveaway. We also consulted on general digital and ORM strategy for the brand.
Creative Spark worked in collaboration with Gloo and Associated Magazines, to develop the House & Leisure website and Marie Clairvoyant blog. House & Leisure is built on WordPress, with bespoke customisation for site features such as the Mood Board.
Creative Spark is responsible for the web development of several DSTV Online brands, including: M-Net, M-Net Africa, M-Net Series, M-Net Movies, kykNET, MK & MK Awards websites; DSTV Guide (mobile and desktop); DSTV mobi site; GOtv mobi site, and the DSTV Facebook Page. The M-Net suite of websites is built on the WordPress multisite platform, with custom integration of DSTV’s video and EPG services.
Memeburn.com is Creative Spark’s own showcase publishing brand, with a dedicated editorial team behind it. Memeburn (pronounced “meem”) is an award-winning site that tracks emerging technologies primarily in emerging markets, which include the BRICs countries. Innovation, mobile technology, the start-up scene, and general tech culture and online business are all subjects Memeburn covers. Via sister site Gearburn, the site looks at the latest gadget reviews and news from around the world, including video reviews. We have also built iPhone, iPad, Android and WebApps to support the ‘Burn brands.
The Fin24 iPhone app relies on information provided by Fin24.com relating to all market news and sector information for trade data in South Africa. This data is consumed by the app and displayed graphically. Mashups were created as a bridge between the Fin24 feeds and app to ensure all data provided to the app is structurally consistent. Each platform could then also be expanded independently from the other.
MySA Essentials iPhone App
As part of a broader advertising campaign to promote South Africa to the world, Creative Spark was contracted by CNN International to advise, design and build an iPhone application for SA Tourism. The final product is essentially a travel guide for tourists visiting South Africa during the 2010 World Cup, and is jam-packed with useful information & news, as well as the ability for users to post and share stories and pictures of their experiences.
National Arts Festival
Creative Spark designed, built and currently maintains the website for South Africa's National Arts Festival. Key features of the website include prominent social media integration links, a customised Facebook Page, an interactive and personalised calendar, and a niche social network for festival goers and enthusiasts. We also designed and developed a Facebook app, mobile site that works across the majority of cellphone handsets, as well as an iPhone app to target those festival goers with iPhones.
